Lesson 3: Basic Colors

Vocabulary:

Conversation:
Can you describe the shirt you're wearing?
Sure, it's a blue shirt.
How about the bag on the table?
It's a black and white striped bag.

Person 1: What's your favorite color?
(ما هو اللون الذي تحبه؟)

Person 2: My favorite color is blue.
(أحب اللون الأزرق)

Person 1: Really? I like blue too. I also like green.
(هل حقا؟ أنا أحب اللون الأزرق أيضًا. أنا أيضا أحب اللون الأخضر.)

Person 2: Oh, I don't like green that much. I prefer warm colors like red and yellow.
(أوه، لا أحب الأخضر كثيرًا. أفضل الألوان الدافئة مثل الأحمر والأصفر)

Person 1: Yeah, I can see that. Red and yellow are really vibrant colors.
(نعم أستطيع أن أرى أن. الأحمر والأصفر ألوان نابضة بالحياة حقًا.)

Grammar:

 -Adjectives are words that describe nouns. In English, we usually put adjectives before the noun they are describing.
الصفات هي الكلمات التي تصف الأسماء. في اللغة الإنجليزية ، عادة ما نضع الصفات قبل الاسم الذي يصفونه.
For example: "The blue shirt" or "The shirt is blue."
 -When using more than one adjective to describe a noun, the order is usually: opinion, size, age, shape, color, origin, material, purpose.
عند استخدام أكثر من صفة لوصف الاسم ، يكون الترتيب عادة: الرأي ، الحجم ، العمر ، الشكل ، اللون ، الأصل ، المادة ، الغرض.
For example: "The beautiful, large, old, round, red, Chinese, silk, decorative fan."

Exercise:

put the word in the right position.

The car is parked on the street. (red)
I'm wearing a shirt. (blue)
The flowers are in the garden. (yellow)
The sky is beautiful at sunset. (orange)
The house is on the corner. (green)
